For Children Ages 1 & 2 Who Are Beginners
press play to learn more about our infant skool swim lessons program
The Infant Skool at PoolSkool USA is precisely designed for children ages 1 & 2 years old who are complete beginners. Meaning they cannot currently swim on their own without a floatation device. In the Infant Skool each child will have a parent in the water with them. We will teach you a specific routine that we use to teach your child how to swim. Parent and teacher partner together to ensure that your child is given the best chance to succeed in this class.
In the Infant Skool, there are 3 parts with 8 classes in each part. In the first part, we work on water acclimation and teach the beginning portion of the swim routine we will use throughout this program. In Part 2, we add on to the routine and teach your child how to swim back to the wall from a distance of 5 feet away. In Part 3, we teach the final steps of the routine, where we will teach your child how to turn around and get out of the pool if they were to fall in.
With younger children we feel it is very beneficial to have the parent in the water. This helps to decrease separation anxiety and helps your child feel more comfortable. In addition, younger children need lots of practice and repetition. If we teach you how to instruct your child, then you can practice and reinforce these skills outside of swim lessons. We highly recommend your child completes all 3 parts of the Infant Skool program so they know how to get out safely if they were to fall in the pool.
